The SEO Case Study of Saint Patrick's!

You are here: SEO Case Study

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral proved to be one of the trickiest projects for SEO.

The Goal:

To Make Saint Patrick’s website rank for “Catholic Church New York”.

The Problem:

Initially the task seemed an easy one but once all of the parameters were defined and detailed it quickly became obvious that the task was quite more than it appeared. Saint Patrick’s was not ranking in the first 500 results in Google for its own terms due to the past site layouts and implementations.

Back Story:

I was hired by Sands Light, a web development company in Port Washington New York, to create an HTML architecture that would allow the new site for Saint Patrick’s Cathedral to be search engine friendly. It was explained that SEO headings and optimizing the content would not be possible to the extent that I would like in order to preserve he voice of the church. Also, the layout would need to be able to stay intact in regards of its search engine friendliness no matter who edited the site in the future.

The Solution:

We used an AP DIV encapsulated CSS level 2 layout system which allowed the implementation of the various flash menus while keeping the HTML coding priority focused around the textual content.

We focused a submission campaign around the launch of the new site with postings all over the web in authoritative places.

The Result:

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral ranks for all of its terms as it should and maintains its search engine friendliness no matter who is editing the site!
